DCA provide digital content and services to public libraries to help them become more successful; to attract new users, grow circulations, serve users better, support staff and protect budgets and jobs. We work with some leading US and EU library service and content vendors, who have appointed DCA to be their trusted partners in the UK.

We are funding a social media project and are looking to collaborate with a UK library and information science student or postgraduate with an interest and aptitude for social media as a tool for promoting library usage and specific offerings from the library. Our budget is £250 per month, for 5hrs per week at £12.50 per hour for an initial six month period. There is the potential for the project to become a longer-term appointment for the right candidate.

DCA aims to support libraries by providing content and services that drive usage and engage communities. Our partners include:

Niche Academy offer custom training videos and tutorials for library staff and users via embedded video tutorials cover the most common e-content platforms that libraries offer. Subscribers also get free access to hundreds of staff training videos created by leading libraries in the US and beyond, with the ability to quickly produce and upload your own training pieces as well. Niche Academy increases usage of e-resources and promotes information literacy.

Koios is a Google Ad Grant agent who specialises in the library sector. Koios helps library trusts and non-profit library affiliates to secure up to €11,000 a month worth of free Google Ads. Infobase Founded in 1940, Infobase offers public libraries a powerful suite of dynamic online reference and learning tools for both children and adults, including databases, streaming video services, e-learning modules, career development resources, and entertainment. Infobase’s offerings such as Credo, Access Video on Demand, Just for Kids, Science Online and Blooms Literature online help libraries to provide more support for users looking for personal and career development.

Our target customer is a digital librarian or council service officer responsible for digital provision.

Our aim on social media is to be seen as a leading industry voice – authoritative and supportive, but never afraid of a GIF and always a little bit ahead of the curve. DCA are a friend of libraries and sympathetic to the challenges that they face, but also can be a critic of theirs – always in the interest of improving public library services.

Social is obviously a platform for us to push our services and the work that we do, but it’s also the place where we want to build our brand and position as a trusted industry voice. We want to spark conversation on Twitter and shake up the industry a little to get people thinking more laterally about libraries and their relationship with their digital users: pushing interesting resources, articles, webinars, trends and thoughts.

We want to use social channels to help us build our network of librarian customers and make them less fearful of being sold to by us.  We aim to move their thinking away from just ebooks to other online media and services.  We need to be innovative so that they can see potential for working with us and we need to make it all look very simple and easy.

We also want to champion our key partner libraries and share best practice from them and others around the world.

We would also like to explore ways we can support existing client libraries with collaborative social media campaigns to push awareness to our services once they have subscribed ie using soc med as digital POS for libraries
